Mani and Lola: July 2018 Unboxing

Swiftly after posting my review of their June edit, Mani and Lola dropped their July box onto my Doorstep!

Inspired by the heatwave that, love it or hate it, has come to the UK and shows no sign of leaving, this month’s edit is a collection of colours that symbolise ‘Summer Summer Summer Time’ (Fresh Prince Style) – in fact, I’m pretty sure the box played that song as I opened it!

*Note: the fumes from said Nail Polish may or may not have caused a hallucination that led me to believe that the box actually made a noise… * I digress…

I thought I had been spoilt last month when Lola and the Gang treated me to my first CND Vinylux polish AND Top Coat (check out my unboxing post here) but this month I’ve received not one, not three but FIVE polishes!

So without further ado, allow me to put you all out of your misery…

Jessica Nail Polish in Blue

This electric beauty is from the 2017 Prime collection and after trying to find the *right* blue for a while that wasn’t really dark or wasn’t too pale I’m pretty pleased to be adding this to my collection.

It’s been quite a while since I have used Jessica products since I developed my obsession with other brands such as CND Shellac and Barry M so it was a nice surprise during the unboxing.

Durable enough to wear without a Top Coat, this could be paired with a silver feature nail or silver half-moon at the base of each nail.

Cuccio Colour in Wow the World

The clue really was in the name – Wow! This limey yellow from Cuccio’s 2018 Atomix collection almost resembles a highlighter so it’s not for the faint-hearted and depending on your skin tone you may even look washed out.

But don’t let that put you off, this is quite a unique shade and can be a great base for some silver striping tape or white polka dots!

Orly Lacquer in Hawaiian Punch

I couldn’t think of a better name for this colour! After receiving two pinks in last month’s box, I wasn’t expecting to see another bottle of it again so soon. But it has a really nice sheen and a holographic undertone and it’s definitely on the shortlist for my sunny weekend away. It was a big hit with my three year old Niece who insisted I used it for her mini Manicure.

OPI Nail Lacquer in Summer Lovin’ Having A Blast

OPI pick the best names for their polishes… legend has it that their team of designers will spend up to 8 hours in one sitting to name the shades from a new collection!

This tangerine dream is from their latest collection which celebrates the 40th Anniversary of the hit film Grease and it’s another strong contender for Holiday season. At this rate I’ll be changing my polish twice a week whilst this Heatwave continues!

Like Jessica, OPI’s polishes glide on really nicely and are tough enough to wear without a Top Coat – although with a shade like this, you’ll want to make this last for as long as possible!

Morgan Taylor Nail Lacquer in Mint Chocolate Chip

https://www.nailpolishdirect.co.uk/nails-c92/nail-polish-c53/morgan-taylor-nail-polish-mint-chocolate-chip-creme-15ml-p12250

This is a completely new Brand for my kit, has anyone else used Morgan Taylor before? I must admit, I did have to do a little googling to find out a little more about them. It turns out that they’re an award winning brand with a passion for creating innovative products – check out that bottle with its ergonomic brush lid!

Another brand who have an eye for picking fab names, this pastel green makes me want to reach for the Neapolitan Ice Cream again like I did during June’s unboxing.

Finally, to protect our talons before applying these statement shades we have also been gifted Essie’s Colour Correcting Primer.

As well as a base coat, it’s also nice to wear alone for a sheer matte finish if you fancy going au naturel for a change.

So there you have it, June’s box in a nutshell! I hope you’ve enjoyed getting the lowdown and don’t forget to check these out on Nail Polish Direct’s website if you fancy getting your hands on any of these!

Have a wonderful weekend,

Nat
